One of the best ways to get to know other members of our Probus Club is to join the Book Group. We are a friendly welcoming group of about 10 -12 members who meet to discuss a wide range of books.
Initially the Book Group met in a lounge at the Rubislaw Church Centre but when that became very busy and noisy, we moved to Cults Kirk Centre where we meet in the very comfortable setting of the Morven room. Many of us manage to park in the Centre car park. There is also street parking.
We meet all year round on the first Monday of the month, except August when we meet for lunch in a local restaurant.
The book discussion starts at 10.15 am but, as we hire the room from 10 to 12 (for which a small contribution is required), there is plenty of time for chat before and after the book discussion.
Everyone is welcome to suggest a book but there is no obligation to do so. The member who has suggested the book may lead the discussion in what ever way she chooses. Our discussions vary widely either on the book, the author and then basically anything. There is no pressure to lead or to comment on the book, but all contributions are welcome.
Often we find that some of us have enjoyed the book and some not. Most of us have read the book but if anyone has not read it, it doesn’t matter. Over the years we have read a wide variety of books such as those listed below.
At the January meet we shall review " The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley"
